The following proficiency scales are used to determine a student's current understanding of a standard. These can be used to communicate what skills students have mastered, and where mastery is still being pursued. Current proficiency levels are communicated on standards-based report cards in grades K-3.
Students are continually building understanding and making connections. Mastery is an end of year goal.
To achieve a score of 3, a student must consistently and independently do all of the skills related to each standard. If a student consistently and independently does at least one of the skills, then he/she will receive a score of a (2-), (2), or (2+) on the report card. See each proficiency scale for more details.
