Public School Choice
Component of Title I No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
·Students who are attending Title I schools are eligible to transfer to another school if their school has been identified as being in school improvement.

PLEASE NOTE!!! There are no schools in Blount County School System that are in School Improvement for the 2012-2013 school year!
A school is identified as being in school improvement if it fails to make adequate yearly progress for the second consecutive year according to state academic standards.
Goal: To provide students with access to quality instruction.
Components of School Choice
·All students in qualifying Title I schools must be offered school choice.
·Priority is given to low-income and low-achieving students.
·School choice continues as long as school is in school improvement.
·3rd year of school improvement -Parents can choose school choice or supplement services.
