The Blount County Education Foundation's main project is the Classroom Grant Program!  Each year certified personnel may submit a grant application.  The applications are then judged, with the judges not aware of the name of the applicant or the school.  The winners are annouced and grants are awarded! 

 

 

Grant Awards Day - Thursday, December 5, 2013, 7:30 a.m. WCRL 95.3 FM & 1570 AM.  Over $100,000 was awarded this year, the largest amount ever!

Celebrating 15 Years of Boosting Children’s Success in Blount County Schools!

 

December 5, 2013                                                               

 

The Blount County Education Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of the following grants for 2013-2014. Grants are awarded to 107 projects representing 144 teachers in the amount of $101,974. The 144 teachers represent the largest number of classroom teachers to ever receive a Blount County Education Foundation Classroom Grant in a single year! Since 1998, the Education Foundation has awarded ­­­­1,396 classroom grants, plus an extra $16,870 in 2009 in awards for each classroom teacher in the system. The cumulative classroom grant program grand total is now $1,005,683, which exceeds $1 million in total grant awards for the first time!!!!

Summary Information:

 

A total of 141 grant applications, 109 individual and 32 collaborative, representing 228 teachers were submitted.

 

Applications are scored without the name of the applicant or school provided to the judges. A total of 107 grants, representing 144 teachers were funded. The percentage of available funds awarded to each type of grant was 75% to Individual Grants and 25% to Collaborative Grants, per the survey results recommendation conducted last February. This is the largest number of teachers ever to receive grants in the classroom grant program!
