Athletic Milestones 2016-2017

Peyton Dean

The Appalachian junior guard went over 1,000 points in his career two weeks ago on a night when he scored 38 points in the Eagles' 90-88 loss to Jacksonville Christian.  The 38 points is a season high for Dean.  He averages 22 points per game for the Eagles, who were 11-11 heading into the area tournament opener at Coosa Christian.  He is the son of Jennifer and Dusty Dean. 

 

Darby Hamm

A junior forward, Hamm has been a mainstay on the front line for the Tigers since her freshman year.  She surpassed the 1,500 mark in the Tigers' 67-46 victory over Cleveland. Hamm has controlled the paint the last three years and averaged 16 points and 15 rebounds per game as a sophomore in Class 4A.  She has averaged a double-double each of her three years on the varsity level.  She is the daughter of David and Dawn Hamm.  

 

Kimberly Horton

Kimberly Horton is senior shooting guard at Locust Fork High School.  Kimberly is the daughter of Kimmy Love and Chris Horton.  She is the granddaughter of Freida and Phillip Horton and Barbara and Kim Hollis.  Kimberly's athletic achievements are playing in the North/South All Star game this summer, being named all county tournament team and area tournament team four years.  Kimberly made a Final Four Appearance her junior year.  She was named All Regional player 2 years.  Kimberly has made 4 Sweet Sixteen Appearances and 3 Elite 8 appearances in her career.  Kimberly holds a school record for free throw shooting percentage. Kimberly currently has scored 1,688 points in her career as she advances to the Elite 8.

Kimberly has signed a basketball scholarship with Faulkner University.
Madison Cater
Madison Cater is a senior shooting guard at Locust Fork High School. Madison is the daughter of Terra and John Cater.  She is the granddaughter of Ken and Roma Cater and Charles Clevenger. Madison athletic achievements are Blount County Tournament MVP 2016, being named all county tournament team and area tournament team four years.  Madison made a Final Four Appearance her junior year. Madison has made 4 Sweet Sixteen Appearances and 3 Elite 8 appearances in her career.  Madison holds two school records for most assist in a single game and best 3 point percentage in a single season. Madison currently has scored 1,078 points in her career as she advances to the Elite 8.

Ashlyn Adkins
Ashlyn Adkins is a senior point guard at Locust Fork High School.  Ashlyn is the daughter of Rhonda Adkins and Carl Adkins.  She is the granddaughter of Theresa and William Elkins and Teresa and Carl Adkins.  Ashlyn's athletic achievements are being named 1st team all state 2016, MVP of Blount County 2017, MVP of Blount County Tournament 2017 and MVP of Area Tournament 2017. Also Ashlyn was named all county tournament team and area tournament team four years.  Ashlyn made a Final Four Appearance her junior year.  She was named All Regional player 2 years. Ashlyn has made 4 Sweet Sixteen Appearances and 3 Elite 8 appearances in her career.  Ashlyn holds 3 school records for most points scored by a junior, best foul shot percentage in a season, and single game free throw shooting percentage. Ashlyn currently has scored 1,791 points in her career as she advances to the Elite 8.
