The Blount County Education Foundation was created in November of 1998 with the mission to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools.  From then until now, the Foundation, due to the tremendous support of the Blount County community, has awarded over $3  million dollars to the schools through its various projects!  

Projects include:  the classroom grant program, summer camps and library hours, library enhancement, tutoring and intervention support, honoring the Blount County Teachers of the Year, the Scholars Bowl program, the Spelling Bee, the Math Tournament, the Youth Leadership Development Program,, recognizing the National Board Certified Teachers, Visual Arts Exhibition, resources for at-risk learners, and more!

 

 2017 Radiothon is Thursday, September 28th, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on WCRL Radio!  Tune in and make a pledge!  Help us keep our projects going!!  The phone number to call on September 28th is:  205-274-9530!  Call us or come by!

 

2017-2018 Classroom Grant Applications are now available!  Click on "Blount County Education Foundation Grant Program" in the list to the left to get further information and access the application!  The postmark deadline for this year is Thursday, October 5th.  The Grant Awards Announcement Day is Thursday, November 30th on WCRL at 8:00 a.m.

  

SPECIAL PROJECT FOR PENNINGTON:  The Blount County Education Foundation has established the J. B. Pennington Special Project Fund to support the replacement of the library media center and classroom resources destroyed during the fire of 3/21/2017.  These funds will be designated to help replace the many teaching and learning resources lost during the fire.  Donations may be mailed to BCEF (P. O. Box 603, Oneonta, AL 35121), hand delivereded to BCEF (204 Second Avenue East, Oneonta, AL  35121) or on-line (PayPal button at the bottom of this page.) Donations may be made to Blount County Education Foundation and designated to J. B. Pennington Special Project for Resources.  All donors will receive donation acknowledgements.

Donations of any amount are welcomed and appreciated.  Currently, donations through PayPal are designated for the J. B. Pennington Special Project Fund for replacing the library media center and classroom resources lost.  If you wish to donate for another purpuse, please contact mneel@blountboe.net.

Partnership Program - Contributions of at least $250 create a Partnership.  A donation of $750 awards a Named Grant.  Signature Grants award $1,000 to the grant winner.

Endowment Program - A contribution of $15,000 to the Endowment Fund creates a Permanent Grant of $750 awarded annually.  A contribution of $20,000 to the Endowment Fund creates a Signature Grant of $1,000 awarded annually.  The Foundation works with the Contributor to name the grant, which may be in honor or in memory of someone or named to recognize the donor.
