The Blount County Education Foundation was created in November of 1998 with the mission to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools. From then until now, the Foundation, due to the tremendous support of the Blount County community, has awarded over $1.5 million dollars to the schools through its various projects!
Projects include: the classroom grant program, after school tutoring, summer programs, library enhancement, honoring the Blount County Teachers of the Year, the Scholars Bowl program, the Spelling Bee, the Young Authors' Conference, recognizing the National Board Certified Teachers, resources for at-risk learners, and more!

Congratulations to the 128 Classroom Grant Award Winners, which totaled $98,975, the highest amount ever awarded! Winners were announced on December 6th at 7:30 a.m. on WCRL.
Amazing! Wonderful! Outstanding! Awesome! Astonishing! None of these seem to express the great day we had on Thursday, September 27th at the 14th Annual Radio-thon! The grand total was $131,652! Thank you Blount County for your tremendous support of the Blount County Education Foundation! With donations starting at $1.00, this truly proves that when each of us does what we can, we all make a tremendous difference!!!

The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has awarded a $90,000 grant to the Blount County Education Foundation to enable the Expanding Horizons Summer Programs to continue through 2015! Wow! The Foundation Board of Directors is thrilled for this commitment from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and looks forward to implementing the grant!
The 2012 Reception was conducted on March 22nd and was a great event! We recognized the retiring directors, National Board Teachers, Teachers of the Year, and, of course, the 2011-2012 Grant Winners! Many thanks to CHS for hosting, AEA for sponsoring the refreshments, and to all who attended!
