The Blount County Education Foundation was created in November of 1998 with the mission to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools. From then until now, the Foundation, due to the tremendous support of the Blount County community, has awarded over $1.5 million dollars to the schools through its various projects!
Projects include: the classroom grant program, after school tutoring, summer camps and library hours, library enhancement, honoring the Blount County Teachers of the Year, the Scholars Bowl program, the Spelling Bee, the Young Authors' Conference, recognizing the National Board Certified Teachers, resources for at-risk learners, and more!

Congratulations to the newest Classroom Grant Award Winners, which totaled $101,974, the highest amount ever awarded! Winners were announced on December 5th at 7:30 a.m. on WCRL.
The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has awarded a $90,000 grant to the Blount County Education Foundation to enable the Expanding Horizons Summer Programs to continue through 2015! Wow! The Foundation Board of Directors is thrilled for this commitment from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and looks forward to implementing the grant!
